Digest

Answer from what the passage actually says — stay in the text.

  1. What does this passage show me about God?

    • What does God say to the woman and to the man, and what happens to the ground because of the man's sin?
  2. What does it show me about people — and about myself, my work and my land?

    • Where do you see the thorns and the sweat of this passage in your own fields and your own family?
  3. What will I obey this week, at home and on my land? (a concrete step, with a day)

    • What sin that is making your work or your home harder will you bring into the open this week — and to whom?
  4. Who will I tell?

    • Who is tired and bitter about the work, and could hear that the work itself came before the curse?

Grow

Growth is God's part, not yours. Do the cycle faithfully and trust Him to give the growth (1 Corinthians 3:6–7).

Pray

God, the ground grew thorns because of what we did, and the work became hard. We feel it every season. Keep us honest about sin, and keep us from blaming the work you gave us before it was ever cursed.
