Answer from what the passage actually says — stay in the text.

  1. What does this passage show me about God?

    • How does Jesus describe the church at Laodicea, and how did they see themselves?
    • What does Jesus offer them, even after such hard words?
  2. What does it show me about people — and about myself?

    • Where have you become comfortable and lukewarm toward Jesus? What has made you feel you do not need him?
  3. What will I obey this week? (a concrete step, with a day)

    • What will you do this week to open the door to Jesus in a part of your life you have kept closed?
  4. Who will I tell?

    • Who needs to hear that Jesus is still knocking, even after they have grown cold? When could you tell them?

Grow

Growth is God's part, not yours. Do the cycle faithfully and trust Him to give the growth (1 Corinthians 3:6–7).

Pray

Jesus, you are knocking, and I have kept the door half shut. I open it to you now. Come in and stay with me.
